Melissa Ruggiero

Melissa is Director of Client Relations for Counsel Financial. She has over 12 years of experience in the legal industry in a variety of capacities. She is involved in a multitude of functions at Counsel Financial from oversight of case collateral to support of sales and marketing initiatives. Melissa specializes in mass torts and leads the internal assessment and review of mass tort case criteria as well as the establishment of common practices, tools and templates for portfolio management.

Melissa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from SUNY Buffalo State College and a Paralegal Certificate from George Mason University. Prior to joining Counsel Financial, she worked for a law firm where she specialized in case preparation and settlement negotiations for the firm's personal injury department. Melissa also conducted medical record review to help evaluate and underwrite medical malpractice and nursing home cases. In addition, she previously worked for a plaintiff funding company where she was responsible for case analysis and underwriting, as well as liaising with clients and their attorneys. 

Outside of the office, Melissa enjoys being active and focusing on fitness. She gets a head start on the day teaching a 6am spin class and is a coach for her kids’ sports teams. Melissa is married with two young children.
